Lynda Apostol, also known as The Montessori Teacher is a first generation Xicana. Her upbringing is different from what you might imagine a Montessorian to be. As an only child growing up in the projects without a father, and later an emancipated teen, Lynda’s trajectory wasn't very promising. But hers is a story of perseverance guided by a deep appreciation for education and a love of learning that allowed her to create a vision of a future unlike anything she’d ever witnessed or experienced.
She always knew she'd be first in her family to graduate college and marry outside of her culture, but she was also the first to have a professional career with dreams of serving & giving back to the community that raised her. When the time came for her to have a child of her own, her desire to break toxic family cycles led her to pursue what would be her first Master’s degree. It was there where she came across Montessori and was immediately captivated by it’s promise of peace, love & justice. From that point on Montessori & Lynda became inseparable. Some might say she was obsessed. This infatuation that led her to not only adopt Montessori into her lifestyle, but also as a career. Still, Montessori had so much more in store for her - an inner transformation that helped heal her wounds and provided something she’d never known...inner peace & stability of soul.
Ever the non-conformist, Lynda has gone on to earn two Master’s degrees in education, about a dozen credentials and an unmatched perspective resulting from intentional career choices that offered her diversity in experience. She now homeschools her two children alongside her husband and is a Montessori Holistic Coach who helps dedicated parents & educators experience their own transformations.
Her vision? To create inclusive Montessori spaces that celebrate diversity and promote the global perspective with cultural competence.
